Child walk around within a circle which becomes smaller over time.
Description:
Set up a rope on the grass in a large circle. Have children walk around inside the spacious circle. Slowly close in the circle so that it has a smaller area. Continue until the children can no longer walk easily without bumping into each other.
Afterwards discuss and compare this to the rural areas outside of growing urban communities. Discuss where the animals will go and how they will find food. You can also tie this activity into population growth.
